More on the Amaterasu and Lifeships in general:

They’re HUGE, one of them is barely able to hide behind Earth’s moon. Practically every surface is coated with panels that are solar panels on one side, and ceramic armor on the other.

And guns, lots and lots of guns.

There is no one source powering the ships. But the main sources are: solar power gathered from the outside panels, and bio-fuel.

Lifeships have several levels dedicated to growing fuel for the bio-reactor, including a wide gene-pool of livestock. Everything is recycled, recycled, and recycled again to maximize usage of limited resources.

In the event that resources are running low, the Lifeships can and have orbited less inhospitable planets to gather raw materials via drone before taking off for the stars again.

Each ship has orders to periodically launch satellites within its wake to not only keep track of where they’ve been, but to communicate with one another. Each satellite is slightly different due to their ever-evolving designs.

I haven’t eaten real food pretty much since I started piloting, so that last post is pretty ironic

As a general rule for FTF (Face to Face) interactions, Aki is pretty relaxed with letting people board the Amaterasu. But actually meeting him outside the ship is very rare.

He has a full-time job keeping everything running to the point that he’s practically built into the ship. What he does have, are remote-controlled probes and shuttles with hologram projectors built in. In the event that he comes into contact with seemingly sentient, non-Terran life on foreign planets, so he can meet with them without fear of bodily harm.

Akihisa’s Earth is also destroyed, so FTF’s are assumed to be outside of his universe (hand-waved by rifts in space and other weird space shit)

Do you like sad sci-fi boys piloting giant ships? You’re in luck! Like/Reblog if you might be interested in a thread, FTF, online or other interactions welcome!))

I went on a month long lucid nightmare, I do believe I’m in need of a psych eval

[INCOMING TRANSMISSION]

That was a good question, with the maps provided to him by Jackson, the universe felt… smaller, in a way, less intimidating, less mysterious. But that did not make the tasks ahead any less daunting.

“Thanks to a friend, maybe. There are several systems nearby with decent prospects; planets not too far nor too close to the sun, and oxygen rich atmospheres. But there is more to creating a habitable environment than that.”

“There is a lot of cataloging to be done. Lots of weighing the pros and cons, and that’s saying nothing of how to introduce long-term changes to the planet to make it able to support life.”
